Owen J. Roberts Alma Mater

Owen J. Roberts Alma Mater
Far above the valley green,
Roberts High School can be seen
With its colors red and white,
signifying truth and right.
Justice Roberts, man of fame,
this our heritage and name,
Gavel, Ledger, we recall,
holding memories for all.
Roberts High to thee we raise
Alma Mater, hymn of praise
For our teachers, honor due;
For our students, tried and true;
For our friends within these walls
For these hallowed rooms and halls;
Knowledge for each seeking mind;
And respect for all mankind.
In times of toil and gladness too,
Through all time we’ll e’er be true.
Grateful for each fruitful year
we have spent with classmates dear,
Cherished memories evermore
Till our high school days are o’er
Faithful, loyal, always true,
We will pledge our trust to you.

Young Scientists

Fourth graders at East Vincent Elementary School have been hard at work, using the scientific inquiry process to investigate a variety of student-selected topics, including:
·         Does the thickness of ice affect how much weight it can hold?
·         What brand of vanilla ice cream melts the fastest?
·         What are the effects different liquids have on egg shells?
·         Does the pH of a first order tributary stream of French creek change by the temperature and the amount of rain fall?
·         On a Lego NXT robot, what sensor detects the color of electrical tape best: color or light?
·         What color vehicle is most popular at different locations in my area?
With the scientific inquiry method firmly understood, students are now working to complete their science fair projects and prepare for the science fair.

Horticulture Students Decorate for Community

Owen J. Roberts High School Horticulture students decorated the foyer of the estate house at Welkenweir for the holidays. They constructed holiday wreaths and garland and created whimsical snow villages with houses made of candy. The decorations will be appreciated throughout the holiday season.

Set in the heart of 197-acres of permanently preserved land, the stone estate home spans three centuries with magnificent views overlooking the valley where the great pond reflects the sky and woodlands. The Estate at Welkenweir is considered a historical asset to the community and is home of Green Valleys Association.

Owen J Roberts Sends 300 Runners to County Girls on the Run 5K

For the more than 700 girls, 200 boys, and 1,000 coaches and running buddies who crossed the finish line at the Girls on the Run 5K and STRIDE Challenge on December 2, it wasn’t just about running. It was a joyous celebration of the self-confidence and sense of achievement that comes from making a commitment to leading a healthy life, working toward a goal, and caring for others.

A host of gratitude goes out to the coaches, running buddies, and families, and congratulations to our young runners!
