Teacher Tales at Henrietta Hankin Library

Owen J. Roberts teachers and principals share their love of reading on Tuesday mornings throughout the summer at Henrietta Hankin Library. The popular program draws anywhere from 35-100 children each week. Children love the connection to school during the summer.

On July 17, 2012, Dr. Susan Lloyd, North Coventry Elementary School Principal, took the young crowd on a "safari" as they learned to tell the difference between crocodiles and alligators.

Solar Power

These photos show progress on the installation of the 553 kW Solar Photovoltaic Array on the high school and middle school roofs. In addition to solar energy production on the District's Main Campus, an impressive amount of work is being done this summer to reduce district energy consumption. A positive environmental impact will be a byproduct of the judicious use of energy created by these initiatives. In addition, the District will realize a 62.5% return on investment with the projected minimum energy savings of 4.2 million dollars realized over 20 years.

Mr. Cliff Hall leads beginning students through a strings lesson at the recent Upbeat Stringscamp Summer Program. The theme for the camp was "At the Movies". More than 100 young students learned to play songs from movies such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Beauty and the Beast.

At a concert on June 28, students entertained the audience with a full multi-media presentation and the premier of “District 12" (based on The Hunger Games), a violin concerto written by Matilde Heckler, a 4th grade student at North Coventry Elementary School. The premier featured Matilde accompanied by a full string orchestra of her fellow students.
