Strong Showing at MCCC

Montgomery County Community College is hosting the 2nd Annual Tri-County High School Art Show, Mixed Media, Wednesday, January 20, 2015 to Friday, February 27, 2015. The Fine Arts Studio is housed in the former Kiwi Shoe Polish Factory. Warm wooden floors, exposed brick walls and high ceilings give the studio ambiance that would be welcomed in absolutely any upscale location. The venue is a reputable backdrop for the display of fine art and the high school show does not fall short; it is worth a visit as a break from the bitter cold.

Students from public, parochial and private schools throughout the tri-county area were invited to participate in the exhibition. The artwork features a variety of subjects and styles in an array of media. College art faculty members judged the artwork.
The "Meet the Artists" Reception on January 28, 2015 featured an awards ceremony bringing recognition to the creators of 15 of the 175 pieces on display. Owen J. Roberts students had a strong showing of inspiring pieces of art in many mediums walking away with 6 of the 15 awards given.

OJRHS Art teacher Ms. Tracey Schiavello was moved by the level of work the students have produced thus far this year. "I say it every year," exclaimed Schiavello, "but I truly am amazed and inspired that the bar continues to go up on the quality of work our students produce--gallery level work!"
