NAMM Best Community for Music Award Night

On Monday, May 4, 2015, the Owen J. Roberts Community was not only presented with a splendid concert by the the Elementary District Band, Elementary District Chorus, and Elementary Jazz Band, but the community also received a distinguished national honor--a Best Communities in Music Education award from NAMM.

Prior to the concert, Owen J. Roberts Superintendent of Schools Michael Christian explained to the audience, "While test scores are important, a real performance evaluation may be experienced and heard here tonight as these young musicians entertain us and touch our hearts. Their hard work is evident and the support of their families and teachers may also be appreciated through their achievement."
Mr. Glen Phillips, Menchey Music Representative, offered some remarks to the crowd about supporting music programs in schools and the NAMM Foundation, a not-for-profit working to advance active participation in music making across the lifespan
