Watch Alums on America's Got Talent 7/14

Watch 3 Shades of Blue play in the Middle Round of America's Got Talent this Tuesday, July 14 at 8 p.m. EST.

The Band received a YES vote from all four judges, Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel, last week advancing them to the middle round. About 30 talents will advance to the final round next month.

Jeffery Allem, Jesse Allem (twin brothers), Austin Allem and Dane Duncan are all graduates of Owen J. Roberts School District. Three of the four were enrolled in AP Music Theory with Mrs. Sheila McIntyre and all four boys were members of Owen J. Roberts Concert Choir.

Dane Duncan, the bass guitarist, was the unforgettable Gaston in Beauty and the Beast in 2012. The twins and Dane graduated in 2012. Austin graduated in 2013.

The boys formed 3 Shades of Blue while in high school and have played venues all over. They participated in the first Owen J. Roberts Battle of the Bands fundraiser. They began primarily as a Christian Rock band, but have branched into more secular work over the years, according to Mrs. McIntyre. She remembers all the boys as being significant contributors to their class. Dane was a 7-Up for three years and participated in Owen J. Roberts High School musicals all four years of his high school career. In addition to the role of Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, you may remember him as Reuben in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Mrs. McIntyre said, "He took direction very, very well and never submitted to the 'drama of the drama'".

Many teachers are remembering the band members as students. Mrs. McIntyre noted, "I am very proud of the boys, not only for their musical accomplishments, but because they are quality, quality human beings. Truly."

Best of Luck 3 Shades of Blue!
