e-Book Creators

East Vincent Elementary fifth grade students presented their published narratives on October 26, 2015. The students worked industriously on their narratives, and presented their published pieces to teachers and peers. The students created e-books using Book Creator on iPads iOS. They were proud of their work and very excited to share their published stories!
Book Creator is an app where users of all ages can create their own e-books. The app engages students in storytelling as they create e-books using photos, drawings, audio (including their own voice), video, and text creating an end product full of multimedia. Users have the ability to choose colors and even insert text into balloons customizing their book to enhance their narrative.

District-wide Make a Difference Drive

On Friday, October 23, 2015, a Gross School Bus made the rounds to all district schools, the bus lot, and office buildings to collect generous donations that will help sustain families of need in our district through the next weeks and months.
East Coventry Elementary, East Vincent Elementary, French Creek Elementary, North Coventry Elementary, West Vincent Elementary, the Middle School and the High School along with the bus depot and district office buildings, kicked off the major annual food drive on October 2. The finale will be a collection taken at the upcoming REA Safe Halloween Night on October 29.
East Coventry was the first stop in packing the bus!

Student leaders, Principal Lloyd and staff added mountains of food to the collection

Filling the bus was a school-wide event at East Vincent. The entire school chanted "Fill that Bus"

EV students are super excited to watch the bus fill!

Lion Cubs service group at West Vincent rock the bus with plenty of staples

The bus fills in stages...

Finding room on the bus starts to get interesting at French Creek Elementary.

Special thanks to NJROTC students for all their MUSCLE filling the bus with boxes packed with canned goods

High School Key Club ran the food drive for the HS

Middle School Leos ran the drive for the MS

"Soup"per Helpers!

Families, OJR staff, students, school groups and organizations all worked together to fill the food pantry shelves. Miss Kira Rump did a phenomenal job organizing the drive. Special thanks go out to each building coordinator and Mrs. Donna Brady for handling many communications. Gross Bus Company has generously donated a bus each year, which makes the food drive come to life in the eyes of the students. Our amazing bus driver, Mrs. Cindy Barnett, gets a full work out each year packing the bus and keeping food from rolling around as the bus maneuvers the winding roads in our district. The OJR High School Wrestling Team and Lion's Club worked together to unload the school bus and repack food Saturday morning. NJROTC students Emily Gray, Molly Slaughter, Kira Schmale and Kelsey Schmale saved the day of the collection applying some extra muscle to the task of filling the bus!
In a correspondence to the Make a Difference Day volunteers and organizers the Coventry Food Pantry informed:
