Ed Foundation Awards Mini-Grants
On Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Owen J. Roberts Board of School Directors Regular Business Meeting, the Owen J. Roberts Education Foundation presented the district with a check which represented grants to teachers in each of the district's seven schools. The money was raised through direct contributions, various fundraising activities and the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.
The Owen J. Roberts Education Foundation has been awarding mini-grants to teachers since
2007. Their mission is to secure funds through philanthropic means and engage all members of
the community to support educational innovation and the mission of the Owen J. Roberts School District. Since 2007, the Foundation has awarded over $166,000 in grants including support for Wildcat TV. In addition, they administer over $23,000 in scholarships each year.
Grants awarded for 2016-2017 include iPads in the High school, Middle school, French Creek
and North Coventry; STEM materials in East Coventry, French Creek and East Vincent;
MakerSpace materials in West Vincent and Library Resources in East Coventry and French
The following teachers received Owen J. Roberts mini grants this month:
o Karin Suzadail and John McCormick in the HS
o Jennifer Scott and Erica Thomas in the MS
o Michelle Riggs in WV
o Brooke Sarkar in EV
o Patrice Reiche in NC
o Paula Jackson, Beth Nyce, Jackie Kirby, Dawn Janke, Jennifer Snow, Elizabeth
Palumbo and Eric Smith in EC
o Shelby Roland, Joanna Kerlin, Samantha Horosky and Jessica Stone in FC
The Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) community organization. Contributions are tax deductible. There are many ways to support the Foundation: direct or payroll contribution, making a Staff Tribute contribution, supporting fundraising events, or purchasing a brick for the Legacy Walkway.
