Mr. LaCoff receives a standing ovation

At the Owen J. Roberts Board of School Directors Regular Business Meeting on Monday, February 27, 2017, School Board President William Kleinfelter read a resignation letter from Mr. William LaCoff, who recently sold his home and will be moving out of the school district.

Mr. LaCoff has been a dedicated public servant advocating for children and public education at the local, state, and national level. He served as Pennsylvania School Board Association (PSBA) Governing Board President two terms, and served on numerous PSBA committees. He was a Pennsylvania Public Education Foundation Board Member, a current Insurance Trust board member and past president, trustee of the Pennsylvania School District Liquid Asset Fund, the active chair of EdPAC, and a long-time member of the National School Board Association’s Federal Relations Network Committee.
Dr. Michael Christian noted, "Mr. LaCoff has selflessly dedicated himself to the students and residents of Owen J. Roberts since 1996.   He has been a leader at local, state and national level in the public education arena.   Bill will be missed, and we thank him for his leadership and commitment."

School Board Directors recognized Mr. LaCoff as a mentor, a champion for public education, and an expert in education law. Board members spoke of his respected perspective in school governance. “We wish him well,” said Mr. Kleinfelter, “and also acknowledge the loss of a true asset.” Mr. LaCoff received a standing ovation. Wearing his Wildcat tie, he seemed at an unusual loss for words as he informed the large crowd that it was time to move to a new phase in life. Owen J. Roberts wishes Mr. LaCoff the very best in all future endeavors.

Mr. LaCoff served three different terms as President of the Owen J. Roberts School District Board of Directors and two terms as Vice President. He chaired multiple committees and was active in many state and national school board roles as well, including PSBA Governing Board President two separate terms.

Mr. LaCoff’s terms as Owen J. Roberts School Board Member:
·         1996 - 1999
·         2002 - 2005
·         2005 - 2009
