Senior Mikayla Kilpatrick is a fulltime student at the Technical College High School (TCHS), Pickering Campus, enrolled in the Early Childhood & Education program. She is a resident of the Owen J. Roberts School District.
Mikayla is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, a LINK participant, Skills USA competitor and an Honor Roll student.
She represents the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program at various career exploration events. Mikayla is organized, thorough and pays good attention to detail. She plans and presents the hands-on learning activities at these events. She also leads the ECCE activities for area school visitors. She is receptive, responsive, and proud to have the opportunity to work with young children.
Mikayla’s instructors report that she has developed into a leader and a positive role model among her peers. Mikayla is quick to volunteer and puts forth 100% in all that she sets out to accomplish.
ECCE instructor Ellen Nutter says, “Mikayla values all children under her care and leads them in a kind, nonthreatening, yet assertive manner.”
After graduation Mikayla will be attending Montgomery County Community College for a degree in Education in the Early Years. She is currently a dual enrollment TCHS/MCCC student earning college credit for her high school coursework.
In the future, Mikayla hopes to be a childcare center director.
