On Wednesday, December 16, 2019, the Owen J. Roberts Navy Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, under the leadership of Master Gunnery Sergeant Andrew Worley (ret) and Captain Craig Armstrong (ret), took part in a stellar Area Manager Inspection. The esteemed inspector was Commander Jimmie Miller USN (Ret). The Commander addressed the audience after spending the morning with cadets.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Susan Lloyd expressed her pride in the cadets and said that in light of celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King and all he did to serve community, she was especially impressed by the hours of community service the cadets give each year.
High School Principal Mr. Ken Napaver welcomed a large crowd of guests and informed that last year, cadets participated in more than 4,000 hours of community service. Commander Miller promised families a safe training environment and a place to develop cadets so they may return to their families even better than when they leave. He also reminded cadets to cherish high school and have fun taking part in social events, friends, and all that high school offers. He presented Cadet Eric Friedemann with two special awards.
Four platoons of cadets took part in the inspection ceremony phase which included March-on the Colors, Color Guard and Drill Demonstrations, and Pass-in-Review.
