OJR DECA Wins Again at International Competition!





Owen J. Roberts DECA Wins Again at the International DECA Competition
Orlando, Florida April 27-May 1, 2018:  Eleven Owen J. Roberts DECA members earned the right to represent the state of Pennsylvania at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida.  These future marketing leaders were selected through at least two levels of competition, as the best marketing students out of over 3,500 Pennsylvania DECA members.  At the ICDC, the Owen J. Roberts delegation competed against 21,000 DECA members for recognition and over $300,000 in scholarships provided by DECA’s National Advisory Board companies.
            More than 1000 business professionals representing both domestic and international corporations served as judges in the competitive events with 150-200 DECA projects/competitors in each event.  These business professionals interacted with the DECA members through presentations of written manuals and role-play scenarios in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management career clusters. 
            Owen J. Roberts DECA won the following awards at the 2019 ICDC:  Dan Duffy and Matt Foster, FINALIST (TOP 20) in the International Business Plan; Theo Damiani, high case (role-play) score in Business Services Marketing.  Other Owen J. Roberts DECA members competing at the 2019 ICDC included:  written events…. Julia Brennan and Madeline Zarkoski in Integrated Marketing Campaign-Service; Nidhi Rupani in Franchise Business Plan; Andrew LaGreca and Nicholas Wood in Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan; and Taylor Severn in Business Services Operations Research; role-play events…Annie Arditi in Business Financial Services; and Michael Giacoponello in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
            DECA is the only international student organization operating through schools to attract young people to careers in marketing, merchandising, management, and entrepreneurship.  Its purposes are to teach occupational proficiency, and to promote understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship in our free, competitive enterprise system.
